A Beacon of Hope

Opened in 2022, Aquila High School serves the vibrant community of Phesantekraal. The school stands as a powerful place of safety and opportunity for local youth.

Their learners face massive socio-economic hardships. Local seasonal unemployment rates sit between 60% and 80%, and families often face the heavy impact of gang-related activity. Against these tough odds, our educators and students show up every day with determination and big dreams.

Our Current Reality

The school operates entirely out of temporary prefabricated classrooms. There are currently no plans for permanent brick-and-mortar school buildings.

In addition, the school grounds have no dedicated grass or sports fields. To practice rugby and netball, our resilient learners must walk to a neighbouring school just to use their sports facilities.

How You Can Help: School Wishlist

We are stepping in to equip these educators and learners with the tools they need to succeed. Here are the urgent needs for the school:

Shading for Learners: 7 x 34m² shade structures to protect children from the hot sun during school breaks.
Classroom Projectors: 10 additional projectors so that every educator has access to one in their classroom.
Teacher Laptops: 8 laptops to support learning, administration, and teaching.
Creative Arts Supplies: Paintbrushes, colouring pencils, glue, and paint.
General Stationery: Whiteboard markers, pens, and pencils.
Rugby Match Kits: Complete kits for 3 teams (23 players per team).
Netball Match Kits: Complete kits for 3 teams (11 players per team).
